Il vigoroso folksinger Tymon Dogg torna con un nuovo album ‘Made of Light‘, che uscirà il 21 Ottobre, 2015.

La voce particolare di Dogg e il suo acuto orecchio per la melodia ci rassicuranodel fatto  questa ultima release delizierà i suoi fedeli seguaci, arrivando a contaminare  le giovani generazione di nuovi fan, attratti suo stile unico folk e punk allo stesso tempo. Uno spaccato vario e coinvolgente di lavoro, che contiene alcune tracce dal suono  allucinogeno e psichedelico, mentre altre mescolano un sound robusto robusto e politico, contrapposto a melodie più morbide anch’esse presenti nell’album.

Dogg parlando della title track dell’album, spiega che ‘Made of Light’ è una delle strade possibili in musica per far  dolore e disperazione. La traccia principale è  ‘Like I Used To Be‘ è  mostra una visione ugualmente ottimista, nelle parole di Tymon “E ‘una canzone che parla del redimersi tanto  da essere amati”.

Descritto da TeamRock.com come ‘il re del punk gitano “, Tymon Dogg è stato membro del The Mescaleros fino alla morte prematura di Joe Strummer nel 2002 e con il quale ha condiviso una lunga vita di amicizia e di collaborazioni. Con l’amico e collaboratore  frontman dei Clash, Dogg ha co-scritto moltti dei pezzi dei The Mescaleros  tra cui ‘Mondo Bongo’, che è stato utilizzato, su richiesta di Brad Pitt, per la colonna sonora del film ‘Mr & Mrs Smith‘, pellicola in cui l’attore si innamorò della  co-protagonista Angelina Jolie.

Le origini di ‘A Pound of Grain’,  terza traccia in questo album,  nascono dalla  partnership creativa di Dogg con Joe Strummer. Egli dice: “E ‘stato ideato alcuni anni fa, quando le news erano piene di problemi di salute degli animali come Blue tongue e la BSE. Scrivevo canzoni con Joe Strummer al momento e abbiamo convenuto di scrivere questa canzone circa il costo della carne … il suo introito è che ci sono voluti tanti acri di terreno per produrre  solo  una piccola quantità di proteine ​​animali … Ho fatto una demo utilizzando i testi che sono in questo disco, il piano era per Joe per aggiungere un po del suo. Purtroppo è venuto a mancare prima che potessimo registrarla. Ho usato una citazione da Leonardo Da Vinci:. ‘Il mio corpo non è una tomba per un altro animale’ – era un vegetariano come lo era Joe sono andato fino in fondo e diventato un vegano – Non sprecare vuole non la crudeltà inconscia è una cosa, ma la crudeltà consapevole è un altro “!.

L’illustre carriera di Dogg è iniziata quando è stato scoperto da Paul McCartney a diciassette anni. Ha inciso con artisti del calibro di Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Paul McCartney e James Taylor e tour con The Moody Blues e rilasciando diversi album da solista. Quando Joe Strummer si unì ai The Clash, Dogg è stato invitato a contribuire alla stesura di  tracce di  Sandinista! e  Combat Rock

Nel 2010 la Cherry Red Records ha pubblicato l’acclamato ‘The Irrepressible Dogg’, una compilation di canzoni dal 1967 – 2009. Questa è stata seguita due anni dopo da un CD di paesaggi sonori di Dogg rilasciati da Thin Man Press dal titolo ‘Una ondata di sogni’.

‘Made of Light’ è il primo di diversi album che include  nuovo materiale inedito, tra cui ‘Hollowed Out’,  un album prodotto da Joe Strummer, che sarà finalmente messo a disposizione del pubblico l’anno prossimo.

Alt-folk stalwart Tymon Dogg returns with a new album ‘Made of Light’, which will be released on October 21st 2015.

Dogg’s distinctive voice and keen ear for melody ensures this latest release will delight his loyal followers whilst bringing his music to a younger generation of new fans, drawn to his unique brand of folk and punk. A diverse and compelling piece of work, some tracks are hallucinogenic and psychedelic, others are stirring, robust and political, juxtaposed with the album’s thoughtful and gentle love songs.

Of the album, Dogg explains that title track ‘Made of Light’ is about music and how it can be a road out of sorrow and despair. Lead track ‘Like I Used To Be’ is equally optimistic, in Tymon’s words “it’s a song about being redeemed by being loved”.

Described by TeamRock.com as ‘the king of gypsy punk”, Tymon Dogg was a member of The Mescaleros until Joe Strummer’s untimely death in 2002. A life long friend and collaborator of The Clash frontman, Dogg co-wrote many of The Mescaleros most popular songs, including ‘Mondo Bongo’, which was used, at the request of Brad Pitt, to soundtrack the moment in the film ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ where the actor fell in love with his co-star Angelina Jolie.

The origins of ‘A Pound of Grain’, the third track on this album, lie in Dogg’s creative partnership with Strummer. He says “It was conceived some years back when the news was full of animal health problems like Foot and Mouth, Blue tongue and BSE. I was writing songs with Joe Strummer at the time and we agreed to write this song about the cost of meat…his take was that it took so many acres of land to produce a just a small amount of animal protein… I did a basic demo using the lyrics that are on this record; the plan was for Joe to add some of his own. Unfortunately he was called away before we could get it recorded. I used a quote from Leonardo Da Vinci: ‘My body is not a tomb for another animal’ – he was a vegetarian as was Joe. I went the whole hog and became a vegan – waste not want not! Unconscious cruelty is one thing but conscious cruelty is another.”

Dogg’s illustrious career began when he was discovered by Paul McCartney at seventeen years old. He has recorded with the likes of Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Paul McCartney and James Taylor as well as touring with The Moody Blues and releasing several solo albums. When Joe Strummer joined The Clash, Dogg was invited to contribute tracks on Sandinista! and Combat Rock.

In 2010 Cherry Red Records released the critically acclaimed ‘The Irrepressible Dogg’, a compilation of songs from 1967 – 2009. This was followed two years later by a CD of Dogg’s soundscapes released by Thin Man Press entitled ‘A Wave of Dreams’.

‘Made of Light’ is the first of several albums of new material slated for release, including ‘Hollowed Out’, an album produced by Joe Strummer which will finally be made available to the public next year.
